MSFT In Bidding For 24/7 Real Media

Even though analysts and users are not thrilled with 24/7 Real Media, it is one of the remaining independent ad servers and the NY Post is reporting that Microsoft is in the hunt. The Post reports that Microsoft was considering making a $1B bid for the online advertising company. Last week, the Post reported that WPP Group was likely to buy the company for about $600M.
The report also says that Microsoft was not likely to make a bid for aQuantive (AQNT).
24/7 shares flew up about 18% giving it a market cap of around $600M.
